The Institute for Humane Studies
The Institute for Humane Studies is a unique organization that assists undergraduate and graduate students worldwide with an interest in individual liberty. The IHS has been particularly kind to me, accepting me to three consecutive Summer Seminars (2004-2006). There is no better way to spend a week of your summer! I encourage and recommend all undergraduate and graduate students intrigued by classical liberalism to apply!
Washington DC is one of 7 cities around the country that IHS sends students to...

The Ayn Rand Institute
Since 1985, the Ayn Rand Institute (ARI) has worked to educate the public, advocating the values of reason, rational self-interest, individual rights and capitalism. ARI seeks to spearhead a “cultural renaissance” that will reverse the anti-reason, anti-individualism, anti-freedom, anti-capitalist trends in today's culture.
Who is Ayn Rand?
Any Rand was a leading creator and proponent of Objectivism. Objectivism holds that there is a mind-independent reality, that individuals are in contact with this reality through sensory perception, that they gain knowledge by processing the data of perception using reason or "non-contradictory identification", that the proper moral purpose of one's life is the pursuit of one's own happiness or "rational self-interest", and that the only social system consistent with such a morality is laissez-faire capitalism.
Ludwig von Mises Institute
The Ludwig von Mises Institute is the research and educational center of classical liberalism, libertarian political theory, and the Austrian School of economics.
Why do Libertarians think Mises was important?
Mises was able to demonstrate (a) that the expansion of free markets, the division of labor, and private capital investment is the only possible path to the prosperity and flourishing of the human race; (b) that socialism would be disastrous for a modern economy because the absence of private ownership of land and capital goods prevents any sort of rational pricing, or estimate of costs, and (c) that government intervention, in addition to hampering and crippling the market, would prove counter-productive and cumulative, leading inevitably to socialism unless the entire tissue of interventions was repealed.
Official Website of the Libertarian Party
What is a Libertarian? Libertarians believe that you have the right to live your life as you wish, without the government interfering -- as long as you don’t violate the rights of others. Politically, this means Libertarians favor rolling back the size and cost of government, and eliminating laws that stifle the economy and control people’s personal choices.
